Consent statistics and A/B tests for your cookie banner

Aiara shows you how visitors respond to your banner: how many accept, decline or make their own choice, for each category and over time. The A/B test compares two versions of the banner, and the risk radar shows where your website is sensitive from a data protection point of view. All three tools are part of the Pro plan.

Consent statistics, A/B tests and risk radar in Pro, from CHF 240 per year and domain.

  • 30 days of daily values
  • 12 weeks of trend
  • 6 fields in the A/B test
  • 6 axes in the risk radar

What is consent optimisation?

Consent optimisation means measuring the consent rate of a cookie banner and improving it through changes to design and wording, without restricting the free choice of visitors. Aiara counts every decision, shows the rate per category and uses an A/B test to compare two versions of the banner by the rate of “Accept all”.

What the statistics show

All figures apply to one domain and come from the banner's log.

Count
How many decisions visitors have made in the banner.
Consent rate
The share of decisions that allow at least statistics or marketing.
Split by action
“Accept all”, “Decline” and custom choice in relation to each other.
Rate per category
How often each of the four categories is allowed, from necessary to marketing.
Trends
Daily values over 30 days and a weekly trend over 12 weeks.
Log
The individual decisions with time, action and categories.

Improve your banner with numbers

  1. 1

    Collect decisions

As soon as the banner is live, Aiara counts every acceptance, rejection and custom choice. There is nothing to set up: the numbers come from the banner's log.

  2. 2

    Read the statistics

The dashboard shows the consent rate, the split by action and the rate per category, plus the daily values of the last 30 days and the trend over 12 weeks.

  3. 3

    Start an A/B test

Create a variant B that differs, for example, in layout, colours or text. You set the share of visits that see variant B anywhere between 10 and 90 percent.

  4. 4

    Evaluate and apply

Aiara compares the rate of “Accept all” for both variants. End the test and apply the settings of the better variant in the designer.

What you can compare in an A/B test

Variant A is your current banner. In variant B you change one or more of these fields:

  • Layout
  • Button shape
  • Animation
  • Logo
  • Colours
  • Texts

How the test is evaluated

Aiara compares the rate of “Accept all” for the two variants. Aiara does not run a statistical check of the differences. Let the test run until both variants have collected enough visits, and treat small differences with caution.

What stays fixed

Google Consent Mode and the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) of IAB Europe cannot be changed in a test. Both variants use the same settings for them.

What consent optimisation offers

  • Consent rate at a glance

Number of decisions, consent rate and the split between “Accept all”, “Decline” and custom choice, plus the rate per category.

  • Trends over time

Daily values for the last 30 days and a weekly trend over 12 weeks show whether a change to the banner works.

  • A/B test across six fields

Compare layout, button shape, animation, logo, colours or texts. You decide the share of visits for variant B.

  • Risk radar

Six axes, from personal reference to profiling, show on three levels, low, medium and high, where your website needs action.

  • Consent stays untouched

Google Consent Mode and the Transparency and Consent Framework cannot be changed in a test. You test the design, not the signals sent to Google and advertising partners.

  • A log of every decision

Behind every number is a log entry with the time, action and chosen categories.

Risk radar: where your website is sensitive

The risk radar rates your website on six axes and assigns each axis one of three levels. This shows you where action is needed.

  1. 1Personal reference
  2. 2Technical dispensability
  3. 3Expectability
  4. 4Profiling
  5. 5Sensitivity
  6. 6User control

Frequently asked questions

What do the consent statistics show?

The number of decisions, the consent rate, the split between “Accept all”, “Decline” and custom choice, and the rate for each of the four categories. On top of that come daily values over 30 days, a weekly trend over 12 weeks and the log of individual decisions.

Which elements can I compare in an A/B test?

Layout, button shape, animation, logo, colours and texts. You change one or more fields in variant B and set which share of visits sees variant B, between 10 and 90 percent.

How does Aiara evaluate an A/B test?

Aiara compares the rate of “Accept all” for the two variants. Aiara does not run a statistical check of the differences. Let a test run until both variants have enough visits before you apply a variant.

Am I allowed to optimise the consent rate?

Yes, as long as the choice stays free and informed. Improve design and wording, but do not make declining harder. Google Consent Mode and the Transparency and Consent Framework cannot be changed in a test anyway.

What is the risk radar?

An assessment of your website on six axes: personal reference, technical dispensability, expectability, profiling, sensitivity and user control. Each axis is rated low, medium or high. This shows you where action is needed.

Where do the numbers come from?

From the log the banner creates as proof for every decision. The IP address is masked in it. You do not need an additional analytics tool.

Are statistics and A/B tests part of every plan?

No. Consent statistics, A/B tests and the risk radar are part of Pro. In Basic the banner also logs consents, and the monthly archive of consents is available in every plan.

How much does consent optimisation cost?

Statistics, A/B tests and the risk radar are included in Pro, together with all six layouts and the privacy policy under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Pro costs CHF 240 per year and domain, excluding VAT.
